Progress so far!

Hey thanks to all those who’ve been experimenting with mail2.im in the last few weeks.  It seems like the “relaying messages” part basically works, but a few people hit some glitches.  I of course think I fixed them, but please say something if its not working for you.  Sending to “bug” at mail2.im will work, or hit the contact me link at the bottom of the mail2.im pages.

Here’s what people hit, and how I think they’re fixed or that you can at least get them working…

1. Problems getting sms confirmations.  We definitely had a problem with the Amazon payment gateway stuff for those trying paid sms.  I’m not sure if we’ve 100% captured this one, but you should get a credit if payment fails.  For other with email to sms gateways, we needed to update a little information and probably will need to for some time now.  SO… if you don’t get the confirmation sms, please tell me!
2. Problems with twitter.  When I test this, it works, but I’m not sure everyone is really getting their buddy requests.  Basically mail2.im and you need to follow each other for you to be able to talk to mail2.im via twitter.  If you didn’t get a follow request, advise!
3. Other problems with twitter.  If you just want your twitter notifications to get relayed, just put your mail2.im id into twitter as the email at which you’d like to be notified.  No need to actually connect your twitter account in that case.
4. IM problems.   I think this works nicely now, but you may not have gotten or may have missed a buddy request when you tried adding an IM account. Sometimes this is because you’re blocking “requests from strangers” so you need to unblock that for the buddying process.  If its still not working, trying signing out of IM and signing back in.   And let me know of your struggles.

I’ll keep working at this and improving it, so please let me know if its useful, or broken, or could be useful “if only….”.   Thanks!
